local attractions

The département of the Vienne and the surrounding area provide a wealth of attractions. From outdoor heated pools with slides and shutes to inland beaches, from zip wire trails to wonderful animal parks, from canoeing to cycling, you will never be short of things to do and places to see.

La Vallée des Singes (38 kms)

A fabulous open-air monkey park, set in 15 hectares and with over 350 primates to see in a wonderfully open environment.

Confolens (20 kms)

A very attractive town on the Vienne river. It has its own festival every August, and offers the chance of canoes and pedaloes as a refreshing way of seeing the sights and passing under the 13th century bridge.

L'Isle Jourdain (11kms) / Bellac (22 kms)

Both these towns provide really good outdoor heated pools with shutes and slides. L'Isle Jourdain is the nearest town, with a supermarket, a good bakery and a cafe/restaurant that provides free wi-fi. For the more adventurous, this town also offers the chance to go water-skiing, and bungee-jumping from the viaduct!

Oradour sur Glane (33 kms)

The inhabitants of this village were massacred by the SS in 1944. A new village has been built nearby, but the old village has been left as it was, as a very moving memorial and museum.

Moussac (13kms)

The local canoeing centre provides a variety of excellent opportunities for canoeing on the Vienne river.

Défi-Planet’ (34 kms)

This attraction offers a zip-wire trail, frisbee golf and an eco-trail through a forest, as well as a play area, and makes for a lovely day out.

St.Martin L'Ars (15 kms)

A lovely inland beach with play area and restaurant - and teepees to change in!
